Bush Center President and CEO Shilo Brooks addressed SMU’s incoming class of 2030 as the first speaker in the university’s new First Lecture series. He tackled ideas such as what kind of education prepares students for leadership, how to be a person of substance, what kinds of pursuits and interests shaped the great minds of the past, and what it means to live the life of the mind. Brooks examined the intellectual lives of people of accomplishment throughout history to extract advice for the upcoming generation of principled leaders.
