Blayne Smith serves as the Interim Director for Health and Well-being on the Veterans and Military Families team at the George W. Bush Institute. Smith supports ongoing initiatives including the Veteran Wellness Alliance and Check-In.
Smith is a West Point graduate and former Army Special Forces officer who has transitioned into a highly effective business and social impact leader. He is a principal partner at Applied Leadership Partners and co-chair of the Armed Services Arts Partnership. Smith has previously served as President of GORUCK and was the first Executive Director of Team Red, White, and Blue; a veterans nonprofit that has grown into one of the most trusted and effective organizations in the space.
In 2018, Smith became the first recipient of the Military Service Citation from the Bush Institute for his dedication to improving veterans’ transitions and helping them find a renewed sense of purpose.
Smith lives in Tampa, Florida with his wife and three children.
