One of Mrs. Bush’s favorite books, To Kill A Mockingbird, takes center stage at the annual Laura Bush Book Club program. Two special guests will discuss the enduring meaning and importance of the book, which was published in 1960.
Thomas DiPiero, the Elisabeth Martin Armstrong Dean, Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences at SMU, and among the foremost experts on author Harper Lee and the book will be joined by actress Mary Badham. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of Scout in the 1962 film and currently plays Mrs. Dubose in the national touring Broadway production coming to the Music Hall at Fair Park, presented by Broadway Dallas, from May 16-28. Anne Wicks, the Ann Kimball Johnson Director, Education and Opportunity at the Bush Institute, will guide what is sure to be a thought-provoking and memorable conversation.
