Major John “Lucky” Luckadoo served as a pilot and co-pilot in the 100th Bomb Group of the Eight Air Force, nicknamed the “Bloody Hundredth.” In 1943, Luckadoo flew 25 deadly combat missions over France and Germany in B-17 Flying Fortresses. Drawn from his firsthand accounts, the biography Damn Lucky: One Man’s Courage During the Bloodiest Military Campaign in Aviation History by bestselling author and journalist Kevin Maurer chronicles Luckadoo’s astonishing wartime experiences.
Donald L. Miller is the New York Times bestselling author of ten books, the John Henry MacCracken Emeritus Professor of History at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, and one of the most respected authorities on World War II, the Civil War, and Modern US History. Miller is widely acclaimed for his books on World War II, most notably the New York Times bestseller Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany (2007).
