Engel, author and David Gergen Director of the Center for Presidential History at SMU on Oct. 28 to discuss the post-presidency, insights from history, and memorable stories at a special edition of Engage at the Bush Center, presented by NexPoint.

In his book, Cohen explores the lives of seven former presidents and tells how they changed history and what they decided to do with their lives after having the most powerful job in the world: President of the United States. Presidents from Thomas Jefferson to George W. Bush are featured in Cohen’s book, where he shows different president’s unique approaches to the next chapters in their lives.
Dr. Engel’s unique background of authoring or editing thirteen books on American foreign policy, and teaching university classes on American history, international relations, and grand strategy will bring a special perspective to a President’s career after having an unusual place in American life.
President Bush’s Chief of Staff Freddy Ford will moderate the conversation which will examine finding purpose beyond the White House.
